Chapter 3: Violence prevention | • Know different factors for violence prevention in hospital, individual and statistical factors • Know the concepts of power and powerlessness • Know the concepts of vulnerability and factors for vulnerability • Know the concept of early recognition |
Chapter 4: Pre-emptive communication | • Know theories of communication • Know models of communication with patients • Know strategies for communication • Be able to use specific skills of non-verbal and verbal communication |
Chapter 5: De-escalation | • Know theories of verbal and non-verbal de-escalation • Be able to use specific verbal or non-verbal interventions in clinical practise |
Chapter 6: Self-regulation | • Know the body’s physiology and activation when handling stressful situations • Understand feelings and reactions’ impact to aggressive situations • Know what might escalate or de-escalate situations |
Chapter 7: Co-operation | • Know principles for managing situations • Be able to plan ahead of situations • Be able to use strategic placement to avoid damage or harm to staff |
